My Design Approach

I design with real life in mind—pieces meant to be worn, used, and loved. Balancing form and function is central to my process, with a focus on longevity over trends. My work is grounded in a timeless point of view, creating products that are meant to last and become part of someone’s story.

While much of my experience is in ready-to-wear, I’ve designed across swimwear, wetsuits, accessories, and lingerie—always considering movement, feel, and expression. Sustainability is foundational to my process, rooted in natural materials, thoughtful production, and a belief in creating fewer, better things.

Ansea

I was commissioned to launch a brand for women connected to the water, built on conscious, sustainable practices and local production in New York City. The pieces were designed to move effortlessly between city and sea—versatile, considered, and inclusive. Using innovative materials like YULEX and ECONYL, we aligned performance with environmental responsibility, creating a purpose-driven collection that honored both the strength of the ocean and the women who feel at home near it.

CALYPSO

I revived the beloved Calypso brand, reimagining it through the lens of islegance—a blend of island living and effortless elegance. The collection was designed for the woman who finds freedom in stillness and beauty, drawn to the sea for its sense of calm and quiet luxury. Using natural fabrics and subtle details, we brought lightness to each piece while honoring Calypso’s spirit through a new lens of conscious luxury.

& Other stories

I designed a namesake collection—Abigail Lorick for & Other Stories—focused on timeless wardrobe staples with a modern edge. Featuring leather and linen bags, pointy-toed loafers, an oversized silk trench, and custom prints, the collection balanced neutral tones with bold pink accents. Designed for longevity and quiet confidence, these pieces remain some of my favorites—and many still live in my own wardrobe today.

LORICK SP 11 was a deeply personal collection inspired by the quiet brilliance of Agnes Martin and the subtle spaces between form and feeling. I wanted to bring a sense of lightness to the wardrobe—designing with airy silk chiffons, soft silks, light linens, and gentle cottons that moved with ease. The palette was equally soft and calming, with cooling turquoises, pale blues, and dusty pinks.

It was a study in restraint, softness, and quiet strength—an invitation to dress with ease and intention.
